The Royal Marines Crest is usually engraved on gifts for military personnel leaving the Royal Marines of the British Army, or to put on gifts presented to "visiting forces" of other armies.

One, is a scratch engraving where the engraved Crest is the same colour as the material being engraved ie a brass plaque or a pewter tankard
Second, is where we deep engrave the Crest twice for the application of black paint on a brass plaque
